Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Kids

December 8, 2020

Christmas morning, our children run down the hallway to the living room and the excitement that has been building all morning in their bed, comes to a grand peak when they see the gifts under the Christmas Tree. Once the gifts are opened and the presents are revealed, we go and gather up our stockings and sit around and watch the fun gifts that are stuffed inside.

Sometimes, I feel like the stocking is the underdog.

There silly giant socks typically contain some of the best gifts! You can have so much fun with a stocking. I love gathering small, creative gifts and mixing them with practical needs.

Below are some of my top picks for stocking stuffers.

Holiday Gift Guide For Your Best Friend

November 24, 2018

She is your best friend. Your go-to-girl. The one you can count on for anything, or perhaps get in the best kind of trouble with. Either way, you know she deserves a special gift from you. The best thing about a gift for your best friend is that you can have fun with shopping and ideas. I love the thought of something that relates to an inside-joke or reflects the true sentiment of your beautiful relationship.

This gift guide was designed to cover that. A mix of some practical gifts, with some funny, some meaningful, and some of the best items for pampering.

Holiday Gift Guide For Your Best Friend 2018
Girl Wash Your Face
  |  Hendrix Coco Soak  |  Kendra Scott Earrings  |  Infuser Mugs  |  Jade Roller  |  Amazon Graphic T-Shirt  |  Fleece Pull-Over  |  Yoga Mat  |  Golden Girls Monopoly  |

Some gift guide highlights:

  • Hendrix Coco Soak – These lavish salts are formulated with aloe leaf extract and coconut milk to nourish and soothe dry, dull skin. Each is made with botanic minerals, essential vitamins, and antioxidant, with a plant-based formula.
  • The Infuser Mugs are a great gift for your tea-loving and sippin friends. Each features a removable cap with an infuser nestled neatly inside that can be removed to serve your hot beverage of choice. Plus, they are microwave and dishwasher safe. Whew!
  • Golden Girls Monopoly – Do you have a girls game night? Well, you should! Wine, cheeses, laughs, and games – seriously what could be better? I love the idea of a fun, and quirky gift for your girlfriend that is unexpected and sure to bring some good times.

Holiday Gift Guide for Him

December 4, 2017

Him_Holiday-Gift-Guide copy
Tis’ the season, for trying to hunt down the perfect gift idea for, him. Quite possibly the hardest person on your list. I know it is a challenge for mine. (Sorry, Nathan). I have had some wins and then some fails, but for the most part, I try to get something he specifically asks for or hints hard about, and then I try to surprise him with a well-thought-out gift.

I know his hobbies, which usually include hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, so a gift that falls into one of those categories usually scores a ride in my virtual shopping cart, followed by an online order and delivery to my door. Oh, how I love online shopping.

For the Craft Brew Lover – Beer Cap Map – this is so much better than a neon light beer branded bar sign! Plus, it is a conversation starter on the best beers and breweries across the country.

For the Techie – Amazon Echo 2nd Generation – supposedly new sound, new design and new features which include pairing with other Echos in the home, calling and messaging contacts, and cooking dinner. Just kidding. I am making sure you are still reading. Projector – add a pop-up screen and popcorn to the stocking and you have a movie night wherever you go!

For the Music Lover – Record Clock – this is pretty nifty because it is fully functional and is also pretty thought out. If the guy in your life has a space that his own, a basement “man cave,’ a music room, a garage or his office, this is a nice touch. Phone Speaker – I feel like music from this wooden speaker would almost be sweeter.

For the Outdoor Lover – Duffle Bag – because if he likes to hunt or fish then he probably does not believe deer and fish exist in the mountains and waters near him, but instead far away places call his name. Chair Hammock – because nights by the river, or camping trips require some luxurious of relaxation.

For the Gamer – Nintendo NES Classic Edition – Super Mario is still, in my opinion, hands-down, the best game there ever was. A close second, Sonic the Hedgehog, but who is talking about him? If your guy likes to game, why not surprise him with the system that probably started the love! Virtual Reality Headset – because if life is not exciting enough, why, not put one of these bad boys on and travel to another world the virtual world that is.

For the Funny Man – Tube Wringer – for the goofball that likes a good laugh, and because let’s face it, guys tend to not really know how to empty a toothpaste container.

For the Sports Lover – The Nascar Racing Experience or Banks Billfold Wallet (constructed from vintage American Baseball glove leather). Both nice touches! One more experienced focused and the other a bit more sentimental.

For the Fashion Focused – Patagonia Hat – a named-brand like Patagonia is one that tends to be more outdoor and high-end focused. If you can’t swing a jacket or sweatshirt, this hat is a nice touch.

Holiday Gift Guide for Toddlers

November 26, 2017

Toddler_Holiday-Gift-Guide copyHave you been watching my Instagram stories lately? Well, if so, you will see that over the course of the last few months, our two-nearly-three-year-old daughter’s personality is really starting to come out. Some days I love it. Other days I am terrified, but for the most part, I enjoy the daily giggles I get from the cute, honest, and spontaneous things she says.

We are in full Christmas mode here in our home. It is true when they say that the holiday magic returns once you have children. Suddenly that butterflies in your belly magic that once existed as a child returns and you feel the spirit of the holiday season return. We are enjoying creating new traditions and celebrating ones that our parents started with us.

At this age, Lo changes her Christmas wish list quite a few times in one day. I really do not know what she wants but instead, know she will like just about anything. As shopping has already begun, here are a few favorites for Toddlers this holiday season.

Play Kitchen  |  Mixer Set  |  Fridge Food  |  “Everything is Mama” Book  |  Sleeping Bag  |  Table Top Easel  |  Circus Mice in Tent  |  Kids Chair  |  Farmers Market Playtime Kit  |  My Mommy’s Tote

What is your favorite from the list or what holiday gift ideas for toddlers would you like to share?

Holiday Gift Guide for Your Best Friend

November 9, 2017

BFF_Holiday-Gift-GuideAnd, so it begins! The holiday season is upon us. I adore the holidays. In the weeks leading up, the excitement builds and I turn into a giddy Buddy the Elf. Oh, the image I just put in your head.

Last holiday season I got all down with my holiday bad self and customized a handful of Holiday Gift Guides and let me tell you folks something, it took off! Meaning I felt like a virtual shopper for many of you and even had follow-up work from friends, co-workers, and family saying, “Well, what should I get…?” No, extra work on me! I promise. I LOVE it.

So, here we go again. You ready? I thought since you are all my virtual BFF’s I would start with a Holiday Gift Guide that is suited for the best friend in your life.

Gift Ideas for the Hostess

December 6, 2016

Gift-Ideas-For-The-Hostess_BackwardsNHighHeels-Blog copy
Our December calendar is pretty loaded down. We have work parties (yes, plural) and friendly get-togethers. We have family gatherings and then we have our full list of holiday must-dos such as a Holiday Light Car Tour, Visit with Santa, one last shopping trip, and the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (yes, that is a thing in our home). You see, all these things add up and before you know it you heading out the door to a holiday party and in complete scramble mode.  If you are like me, you are begging your husband to make a quick run to pick up a bottle of wine for the hostess. But, here is the things, so is every other person heading to the same exact party as you.

Be different. Be bold. Make a statement this holiday party. And, if you make a really big impact, heck, you may just get invited back next year!

Gift Ideas for Him

December 2, 2016

gift-ideas-for-him_backwardsnhighheels-blog-copyContinuing with my 2016 Gift Guide, I present to you Gift Ideas for Him. The absolute hardest Gift Guide to create. Am I right or am I right? I think I am right! Now my dear Hubby would tell you it is quite the opposite. That I am indeed the hardest to buy for and I always reply, “But, I am so easy!” And, yet he says the same thing when talking about himself. However, I do believe he is beginning to realize how hard he is to buy for on all levels and that means for me, his own mother, my mother, etc. He even says things now like, “Since I am so hard to buy for, I like this.” Or will even go as far as buying items for himself while shopping for others and say, “Here give this to your Mom or my Mom to give to me.” What fun is that?

Thinking maybe I am not the only one out there struggling to figure out what to buy the men in our lives, here are my top 2016 Gift Ideas for Him! And, don’t worry, Nathan, I did not reveal anything for you.

Gift Ideas for Children: Stocking Stuffers

November 26, 2016

gift-ideas-for-children_stocking-stuffers_backwardsnhighheels-blog-copy
The most underrated tradition of Christmas… the stocking. So much emphasis is placed on the gifts under the tree that we tend to overthink the stocking. Maybe we just cram the “smallerish” items into the stocking when we are exhausted and don’t feel like wrapping any more, or, maybe we just use the stocking for a candy jar and pile in the chocolate and sweets.

I personally find the stocking to be such a fun, little extra tradition, and do you know the origins date back to a widowed man who feared his impoverished status would prevent his three daughter’s from marrying? Yes, for real! The story goes that on Christmas Eve, their stockings hung by the fire to dry and Saint Nicholas knowing the father’s humbleness, placed gold coins in the stockings, setting the family into a better financial place. Huh? All of this excitement today over a tradition that began with drying socks. Here are more stories and traditions from the Christmas Stocking.

Gift Ideas for Her: $25 and Under

November 22, 2016

gift-ideas-for-her_backwardsnhighheels-blog-copy

Tis’ the season to be jolly! We all need a little jolly wouldn’t you say? I think I am more excited for this holiday season than in year’s past. There are a multitude of reasons which have been built up to this magnitude of holiday cheer. The stress from a hectic work year, the age and playfulness of Lo, the need for some downtime, the fact that the holidays have always been my most favorite season and with all the heartache 2016 has brought this time always brings out the good and the outlook for a fresh start. Doesn’t that sound delightful?

Holiday Gift Guide For a 1 Year Old

November 22, 2015

Holiday-Gift-Guide_For-BabyWell this weekend we sighed heavy, smiled and realized we have an 11 month old. Where in the heck did the last few months of time go? 11 months has ushered in an ornery side to her personality. She actually understands some of our verbal cues and giggles, scowls and even mocks us now. Oh, boy, our hands are full!

As we near her first birthday and Christmas, I find myself scouring the web late at night, after she has long gone to bed, for gift ideas.

I am a firm believer in quality over quantity when it comes to toys. Now, I know that very statement is going to earn me some eye rolls, especially from some of Baby Lo’s relatives who hear me whine about not wanting a living room full of bits and pieces of random toys.

Tiny house = tiny toy box, Baby Lo. Sorry about your luck! HaHa. Just kidding. Well sort of.

So, if you find yourself with a baby (okay, I know she is an infant and soon toddler – what!) on your Christmas List, that is nearing or around 1-year’s old, please consider some of my top picks.

Enjoyed this post?  Awe, thanks. I am blushing.  We can connect through facebook || twitter || instagram ||pinterest || bloglovin’
