Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Kids

February 6, 2021

Hard to believe it is February for the simple purpose that January always feels like the longest month of the year to me. After the hectic schedule of December and the joy and fun the festive season brings, January always feels cold, dark, and a little lonely. I also blame the fact that I de-decorate our home and the twinkling lights and bright red, green, and white decorations suddenly get packed away and leave bare walls, and shelves that I struggle to decorate until Spring returns.

So, Valentine’s Day brings a welcome embrace from me and no, the “it is just a made up Hallmark holiday” excuse will not take that joy from me.

Our holiday is low key. It usually consists of Nathan and I treating ourselves to a special dinner – like steak, or scallops, or crab legs. The crab legs one doesn’t work out these days with two littles that call our name every 6 seconds, but we have been there and done that. Nonetheless, we cook a nice meal, open a bottle of wine, and cook the kids chicken nuggets of frozen pizza (because let’s face it – that is all they will eat these days).

But there is always a Valentine’s Day surprise for the kids. At some point red and pink balloons come out, and an explosion of red, pink, and white announces “it is Valentine’s Day little loves.”

Smart Sweets Candy | Slippers | Cat Purse | Heart Sunglasses | Socks | LOL Gummies | Piggy Paint Nail Polish | Rainbow Cake Squishy | Name Straw | Instax Mini Camera | Pinkalicious Book | Beanie

Fire Truck | Snow Gloves | Sunglasses | Smart Sweets Candy | Baseball Hat | Animal Flashlight | Modeling Dough | Shoes | Soccer Ball | Love is a Truck Book | Marshall Stuffed Animal | T-Shirt

That’s my picks for this season! Hard to believe it is a week away. My advice – have fun. Make heart shape pancakes, surprise your kids with a heart balloon, tape paper hearts on their bedroom door with affirmations or reasons why you love them, and don’t underestimate the simple act of just showing up and saying, “I love you.”

Happy Valentine’s Day!
