We have a new little scrumptious baby to love on. Our son, Luke was born a few weeks ago and I while I will wait on his newborn pictures to share details on his arrival, I wanted to share a peek inside his nursery space.
I knew exactly what I didn’t want for this space more than what I wanted for some time. I knew I didn’t want the typical baby boy is arriving blue. I also didn’t want any characters, or strong boy ties like hunting, fishing, sports, or cars themes. Instead, I wanted a space that was peaceful and calm with neutral colors and soft textures.
After some design scrolling on Pinterest and through Project Nursery, I decided on the gray and white color scheme. It felt relaxed, clean, and calm. You know, three words that do not typically describe little boys!
Gray can be a finicky color to select and that is because room lighting can impact the color. Sometimes a gray will look blue, purple, and even green when painted in a space. We selected the Sherwin Williams paint color, ‘Seattle.’ The room is smaller with little natural light so I knew it was a gamble, but I was so happy with the results.
Rumor has that it was recently revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new addition will have a nursery in the same color scheme. I feel like I am a visionary.
We were able to enjoy some furniture pieces a second time. The crib was purchased for our daughter, and it was important to reuse again. The rocking chair pictured above was a gift from my parents when we had our daughter. There were many special nights between her and I in that chair, and I wanted to to enjoy the same experience with Luke. It helped that both pieces went great with the color scheme I imaged in my mind.
I used gold accents in the space, and those cute little animal critters were from the baby shower my mother hosted.
My absolute favorite piece in the room has to be the artwork. The little shot of the Fox was the first thing I saw that lead me in the direction for Luke’s room. I fell in love with the print and researched
I was so happy with the way our little man’s space turned out. The space really is peaceful and so calming. My favorite little spot is curled up in the gray rocking chair.
