I am all about saving money. Why spend more when you don’t have to? Don’t answer that! There is no need to. In fact, there are so many great resources out there that are designed for you to do just that – save money.
I have been meaning to put this post together for a while now, but have put it off due to the work around building it. Since it is unlike my typical thoughts to paper (or shall I say thoughts to blog) posts, you know the ones where I ramble about life, motherhood, family, etc., I had to motivate myself to put the “work” in for this one.
Finally, after chugging along in the evenings, I was able to compile my list below. I am so happy to finally share these “hacks” and techniques for saving money when shopping with you because they are so easy and they really can pay off.
EBATES
Let me begin by sharing, I 100% thought this was a gimmick. I had heard about Ebates long before I actually joined. It was not until the company started running TV ADs this holiday season, that I thought, this can’t be a scam? I joined the first week of December and made $85 in my first month. Please note, the pay out is contingent on you, your retailers, your purchases and the totals.
Here is how it works.
- Sign-Up!
- Shop through Ebates at your favorite stores. (Please note: not every merchandiser is partnered with Ebates. For example, Pottery Barn, not a partner).
- Earn cash back on purchases. (Please note: cash back promotions will differ per store).
- Get paid! You can choose to receive a check in the mail or to have money deposited into your PayPal.
TIP: Ebates offers a Cash Back button you can download to appear on your browser search bar that reminds you when you are shopping online to activate your Ebates and will share that stores cash back offer.
IBOTTA
Ibotta is a free app that saves you money on everyday purchases. I have been using for about 6 months and I love it. I downloaded Ibotta to my phone and use the app to build out my shopping list and then shop and save.
How it works:
1. Download the App (Available on iOS and Android. The app is required to submit a receipt.)
2. Unlock rebates. Before you go shopping, unlock cash rewards on great products by completing simple tasks.
3. Go shopping! Buy the products you’ve unlocked at any supported store.
4. Verify your purchases by scanning your product barcodes, then submit a photo of your receipt.
5. Get cash (Please note: You’ll have the cash deposited into your Ibotta account within 48 hours.)
Once you hit $20, Ibotta will allow you to transfer and withdraw from your Pay Palor Venmo accounts, or you may choose a gift card payout. Since I am always shopping at Amazon, I opt for gift cards. So, far, I have earned $40!
GAP VISA CARD
I commute close to an hour to and from work each day, so one big expense for our household is gas. I realized awhile ago that instead of using my debit card or credit card when paying for gas, I could use my GAP card and reap the benefits of earning 1 point for every 1 dollar spent. You earn 5 points for every 1 dollar spent at GAP, Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta, so once you hit a cumulative 500 points, you earn $5. This really pays off for me. Gas alone allows me to earn rewards that I can then use to redeem for clothes for Lo!
RETAIL ME NOT
I have been using this App for over two years. It is my absolute favorite! Basically RetailMeNot allows you to search top retailers by typing in a brand or using the satellite feature on your phone to search retailer locations near you. When you shop you can search the App to see if a retailer offers an in-store or online coupon or promotion. In-store, will allow you to download a barcode coupon and online, a Promo Code. Black Friday, this App is my BFF!
COUPON MOM
Do you grocery shop? Yes! Do you want to save money with each trip? Yes! Then before you go, Bookmark CouponMom.com to your browser. This website offers printable coupons that you can browse through, select, print and then take shopping with you. I have been using this website for years and years! Often saving money on each trip! This website is a great resource for Coupon Codes, Loyalty Rewards and Cash Back offers.
SAVING STAR
This is the same premise as Coupon Mom, but saves you on the printing and cutting. Instead Saving Star allows you to pick your favorite grocery retailer, input your rewards card and then select from available offers on their website. There are one-time offers like 25 cents off a product, but then there are running promotions such as spend $16.00 on these brands and receive $4.00! The best part, you select your offers and they load electronically to your rewards card. When you check-out and swipe your card, your one time offers will be applied and it will track running offers. Ultimately saving you money! It is the original Ibotta with a pay out on running rewards cash back savings. You can opt Pay Pal or Bank deposit or Gift Card payout.
So, there you have it! Some money saving tips for the next time you go shopping. I try to actively use all of these resources, many times paying off two-fold, as sometimes I have a coupon from CouponMom that will end up pairing with the savings from Ibotta. Before you know it you will be subconsciously saving all the way around. Hopefully, one of these is a resource you have never heard before.
If you have any money saving tips for shopping, please share in the comments below. As I always say, happy shopping!
