I get so incredibly blue after Christmas, and then once New Year’s hits, I feel an even deeper sadness. The rush of the holiday season, the music, the wrapping paper, homemade cookies, and house all adorned with twinkling lights… fades into the coldness of winter. It is so depressing. Then the time comes when my husband starts nudging me, “When are you taking down the Christmas tree?”
“Stop! Go away.” I want to yell. I love the ambiance it brings to our home. I love the look on baby Lo’s face every morning, and I mean every morning when she see the beauty of nature in all its glow twinkling before her. It never got old this season. Never.
Plus, the house always looks so cold and bare after the garland, lights and stockings are down. How did we ever live here before? 🙂 Today though, I mustered the courage and tackled Tree #1. Probably not Tree #2. I will wait another day or two until Nathan starts nagging at me again. HaHa.
To power through the inevitable, I concocted a fruit smoothie this morning. My body is on food overload from heavy dinners and plates of sweets, so this smoothie hit the spot.
PINEAPPLE STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE
- 1 Cup of Frozen Pine
- apple
- 1/2 Cup of Frozen Strawberries
- 1 Banana
- 1 Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt
- 3/4 Cup of Almond Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla
Combine all the ingredients into a mixer, blender, Ninja (we use a Ninja) and blend until ingredients are well mixed and smoothie is at a consistency that you like. If you like a thinner smoothie, continue to add almond milk.
Do you get sad after the holidays are over? Surely I am not the only one who goes through the post-holiday blues.

I as well become sad that I have to take down all of the Decorations from Christmastime. Last year my daughter was only 9 months & enjoyed the lights, but not like she did this year.
The problem this year we had to pack the ENTIRE house after the holidays because we sold our house this year. It was a blessing to sell our house so fast, but so sad to take down the decorations & the only home she has even known.
Here’s to leaving them up until February next year! Haha

Well, congratulations on your move! That is a lot to handle after the holidays. I remember as a child my grandma would let her flocked tree up through Valentines and the red lights and ornaments became Valentine’s decor. So, here is to February, next year! Thank you for stopping by.
