Backwards N High Heels

Balancing work and play while wearing many hats (I mean heels).

Sweet and Salty Protein Bites

October 13, 2015

Back in April I shared my very favorite, super easy, go-to dessert / snack recipe, Protein Bites. It was a hit! By hit, I mean I had more people actually stop me or mention on social media either 1) how they could not wait to make them or 2) how they trusted me, tried the recipe and are now hooked.

Recently when all the ingredients were out and sprawled across my kitchen counter, I decided to experiment.

The result?  Sweet and Salty Protein Bites! A new spin on a classic. Actually, I think they may rival the classic.

SWEET AND SALTY PROTEIN BITES
Makes 25 Balls

  • 1 Cup of Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1 Cup of Pretzels (Crushed)
  • 1/2 Cup of Peanuts (Crushed)
  • 1/2 Cup of Peanut Butter
  • 1/3 Cup of Honey
  • 1 Cup of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Tsp of Vanilla Extract

Place the pretzels in a bag and crush. Empty the contents into a mixing bowl. Place the peanuts in a bag and crush. Empty the contents into a mixing bowl. Combine the remaining ingredients above in a large mixing bowl. Stir ingredient until well combined. Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for an 1 hour. Remove the bowl. Scoop a spoonful of the mixture and roll into a ball. Enjoy!
