This is a simple post.
Do you have moments you live for or moments when you quietly think, “Ahhh, this is life”?
It is just you and me and the sunshine streaming into your nursery window. We rock. I hum and feed you your morning bottle. After a burp, the binkie goes in and I turn some Avett Brothers music on. Wrap you tightly, pull you close, and we rock some more. Every now and then your eyes lock with mine and they light up and you smile so softly as I sing you the words. Once you fall asleep in my arms the whole world feels so incredibly peaceful. The house is absolutely still and quiet except for our music and rocking.
This is my moment.
I have come to realize that I work hard all week for this very moment. My weekdays are countdowns to my weekends at home with you. If I could imagine what heaven would feel like, this is it.
This is my moment and it is always with you.

I love that moment when I pull into my daughters and the grandkids come running up like I am royalty.

Hi Ashli! I read your post on Huffington Post. I’m not a blog follower in any way; never have been. Until now! See, I had my first baby on March 9th, and I know exactly how you’re feeling! Throughout my pregnancy, everyone told me how great I looked and how surprised they were I still dressed up and put on makeup and did my hair. I got mani/pedis regularly. Once Alexander was born, I forgot about all those things. I haven’t had a mani/pedi since the weekend I went into labor. I too wear my hair in a bun just about every day. I live in sweat pants and yoga pants. My kitchen isn’t as clean as it normally would have been. Mail sits unopened on the coffee table. But as I’m typing this comment, my 6 week old little guy is sleeping on my lap. As tough as it is, I couldn’t be happier. Thank you for sharing your experience and telling us how it changed you. It certainly changed me!
