Ladies I am about to debunk something for you. I am about to shed some light on the great purse debate. While these opinions are entirely my own, I feel compelled to share the following with you. A ginormous purse / bag is not a necessity. And, I am saying this as a mommy of a two-year old. You know, a mother who must tote gummy bears, juice boxes, diapers, a change of clothes, grocery store coupons, a baby doll, a book bag, baby doll’s bottle, Lo’s favorite blanket, baby doll’s rattle, all as I head to the grocery store. I know roll your eyes and gasp. Seriously!
I have been a big bag lady for sometime. Remember when the bigger the better? Totes were so in and while I secretly have two or three I bust out every now and then, let me share why I made the switch to a crossbody purse and may never return back to my big bag wearing days.
You see it all started when Lo was around a year and a half years old. My giant purse carried the weight of motherhood around with me. I would just shove everything I needed in my bag. Eliminating the diaper bag all together. It worked. It fulfilled its purpose. The problem became a problem when I was out without Lo and still lugged this bag and all of its belongings around. To work for instance. I would pull out a binkie, diapers, pair of socks, spoon and toys just trying to get a pen for a meeting. It all came to a halt when my neck, shoulder and back began to hurt and the moment I found a very, very old banana in the bottom. Yuck!
I had been eyeing a crossbody bag for a few months and asked my Mom to get me the one you see pictured above, for Christmas. At first, I was like, “Oh, this is going to go just great!” No room for anything, but then something happened. I actually selected items I needed to carry around with me and at the end of the day, it was eyeing opening because I did not need too much. I still pack a diaper bag, but now that Lo is over two years old, I really do not need to take all the items I once carried when she was younger. Plus, this purse is easy to switch from a day out with Lo Momming it up to out on a date night with the hubby. Here is the best thing, I have two hands! I know that sounds odd, but the crossbody allows you to wear your purse across you so you are free to move better while securing your belongings. Ah, totally love this bag!
